Patricia DeJoy, MS, DC
Hello, I’m Dr. Patricia DeJoy and have been a chiropractor for 16 years. I
began my career many years previous as an electrical engineer, concentrating in
the field of biomedical engineering. Along the way, I obtained my M.S. in
biology before completing my doctorate in chiropractic. I’ve always been
fascinated with how the body works and have taught biology and science courses
to students from middle school through college graduate levels, including
chiropractic, massage and acupuncture students.
Working through my own life challenges I discovered, as we all eventually
do, that true health and well-being is multifaceted and achieved through care
and consideration of the whole of a person. A body has the intelligence to take
care of itself given the proper care and feeding. This is the exact philosophy
that formed the foundation for the chiropractic profession 125 years ago. When
I discovered this shared philosophy, I knew I had found my life’s calling.
I returned to school at age 39 to realize my dream of working with people as
a health care professional. New York Chiropractic College was a great choice
for me; I love the Finger Lakes region and NYCC is one of the premier colleges
in chiropractic studies. I have completed hundreds of hours of advanced study
in chiropractic technique, nutrition, woman's health, chiropractic pediatrics,
cold laser therapy, craniopathy, muscular release techniques, extremity
adjusting, clinical diagnosis, learning disabilities, spinal imaging, yoga, tai
chi, and meditation. I will never tire of learning!
Over the years, I've worked closely with a number of experienced
chiropractors and other holistic practitioners. I have gained a wealth of
clinical knowledge and experience with varying patient populations and used a
variety of treatment methods. I address structural, nutritional, emotional,
environmental and lifestyle components of care with my patients.
My greatest teachers are my patients, who continue to guide me in developing
a greater awareness of the body’s wisdom. They have shown me firsthand the
tremendous power of the innate intelligence of the human body. I have seen over
and over and over again that a more balanced, happy and healthy life can be
achieved through non-invasive, previously termed ‘alternative’ techniques. A
focus on the whole person and a passion to continue learning form the core of
my approach to health care.
